Tips!

Use the status bar on Your web browser. While You hover a link on a page You can usually see where You are going if You click the link. With IE4 You can drag and drop images, links, etc. on the status bar to view that image, link, etc. by itself on a blank page. If You hold down CTRL while dropping, it will be opened in a "New Window". I use this often while surfing so I can see what's on a page before leaving the current page.
Triple Click! I noticed in IE4 that if You double click a word, as usual it becomes hilighted, but if You triple click, the entire paragraph becomes hilighted (cool and handy). With a 3 button mouse the middle button can be clicked once to scroll the page in IE4, click again (or hit any key to stop) provided the middle button isn't doing any other task like a double click. Use 3 clicks off to the side text (in the margins) to "Select All".
Usually the "backspace" key is the same as hitting the back button on a browser. While typing I find it easier to hit backspace than grab the mouse and click the back button. If You are filling out forms on the net the Tab key will move Your text cursor to the next line, entry, link, etc.
Keep backups of Your web pages! Hard drives crash and data is lost even with good servers, so keep a backup copy on Your hard drive. I keep backups also on floppy disks of pages I've created just in the case something crashes. All of this HTML was contained on a 720 kb (half of the usual 1.44mb) floppy disk.
If You find Yourself on a page where the text is almost impossible to read due to the colors used, try selecting (hilighting) the text, that should make the backgroung one color (usually dark blue) and the text another color (usually white) so it will stand out and be easier to read.
If You do any downloading or recieve files in Your e-mail, PLEASE protect Yourself with a good Anti-Virus program, and be sure to keep Your Anti-Virus software up to date (most offer free updates). If You want my opinion of a good Anti-Virus program mail me and I'll tell You what I think about them.
Protect Yourself from having Your work from being stolen! This is very hard to do, but You can take a few precautions that will help. Add the Copyright word and symbol © to Your pages in 2 places once on the page itself and again in the source code as a comment. If someone copies Your pages exactly You might have a leg to stand on.
Kirk (a friend of mine) taught me a great tip (especially if You do any work for a company and are creating pages or logos for them!), snail mail Your work to Yourself and never open the envelope. The postmark on a sealed envelope in the right hands can show that the document was possibly created long before someone else began using it.
