Pure Logic Co. - Est. 1995

Pure Logic is the company name (DBA: Pure Logic Co.) I use for basically anything I want... primarily in regard to computers and computer repair. I started the company in 1995 and back then computers were more or less rare in homes. Computers have come a long way since then and so has the internet itself, I can remember believing that I knew all of the neat websites *grins* or that I had visited all the places that were worth visiting.
In 1995 I purchased 2 PC's... the first was almost given to me by a friend, it was a 286 Portable w/plasma display, 40 meg drive, 8 megs of ram, 8 mhz (12 mhz Turbo) CPU, and DOS 6.0... pretty cool machine built like a laptop but it had to be plugged in (no battery) to power up. 2 weeks after that purchase I found myself helping the same friend use memmaker to gain a bit more low ram and make Windows run faster on his computer... I didn't even have Windows yet! I taught myself by reading the help docs in DOS, I am glad I learned the way I did... I still know the command prompt better than most. ;)
The second machine was a Packard Bell 486 that I saw at wal-mart... marked down to $200 - everything (keyboard, mouse, monitor & speakers) 'as is' I asked a salesman why it's so cheap and he said because it's not working... so I hooked it up right away when I got it home, found that a boot password was set in the BIOS... called Packard Bell and they told me how to clear the password no problem... then the guys says "would you like for us to send you the software package for it ?" uhmmmm... well... no charge Oh yes sir! Please do, so I get this free package in the mail... no CD-Drive came with the machine so software was all on 3.5" floppies... I think 24 in total? I upgraded that machine to death pretty much, replaced the i486 @ 33mhz. CPU with a Pentium Overdrive @ 90 mhz. processor, CD-Rom Drive, added 16 megs of ram for 20 megs total (4 megs onboard), Sound Blaster sound card. AND actually soldered a surface mount 256kb video memory chip (from another board) to the motherboard to give me half a meg video ram! hehehe
Through my experiences, I have taught myself quite a bit, but I am thankful to one person - Stan who has taught me a great deal, and I do try to help him when I can. *grins* I am most thankful to Stan because he was the help I needed in switching to Linux (instead of Microsoft Windows) and he did so without trying... he just knew enough to be my Linux Guru and give me a nudge when I was stuck. So thanks a bunch Stan! I love Linux more every day :)
